How to use the Makerbot Replicators

2013

- Makerbot is a brooklyn based company that was founded in 2009.
- The machines we have are the Replicator and Replicator 2

Info on the Replicator

- Can print dual color objects
- Prints ABS plastic
- Requires high temperature base
- Uses ReplicatorG to create GCode

Info on the Replicator 2


- Prints PLA plastic only (Don’t fuck that up)
- Requires no heat base
- Uses MakerWare to create GCode

Instructions for the Replicator

1. Create 3D file in Rhino 3D, Vektor works etc.

2. Export the file as .STL

3. Turn on Makerbot. The button is placed on the back. 

4. Preheat left or right tool + platform ( Use the display and buttons placed on the Makerbot)

5. Transfer your .STL file to the desktop computer placed next to the Makerbots.

6. Open ReplicatorG 

7. Open your .STL file within ReplicatorG 

8. Place your object on the platform

9. Choose ‘Generate GCode’ (Use standard setttings)

10. Open GCode tab and find HTB temperatur and change it from 110 to 115

11. Click build

 

Instructions for the Replicator 2

1. Create 3D file in Rhino 3D, Vektor works etc.

2. Export the file as .STL

3. Turn on Makerbot. The button is placed on the back. 

4. Transfer your .STL file to the desktop computer placed next to the Makerbots.

5. Open MakerWare

6. Open your .STL file within MakerWare

7. Place your object center on the platform 

9. Choose ‘Generate GCode’ (Use standard setttings)

10. Click build
